Not long back, when Telecom players in India were hit by entry of Reliance Jio, the profitability of the telecom companies had gone for a toss.
The second hit came in July, when Centre informed the Apex court about pending license fees of over Rs.92,000 crore by leading private telecom companies including Vodafone, Bharti Airtel and state-owned MTNL and BSNL. Confirming the Centre’s plea,Supreme Court on October 25, ordered the telecom companies to pay Adjusted Gross Revenue (‘AGR’) dues to the Department of Telecom within three months extended later to 2 years
